DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


 

Operates and programs CMM. Perform first article inspections, as well as, lot compliance of internally manufactured and purchased parts. Perform incoming and final inspection on a variety of parts and/or assemblies. Record dimensions and complete inspection plans as required. Can use a variety of assorted measuring instruments to perform job tasks assigned. (I.E. Calipers, Micrometers, Optical Comparators, Height Stands, Indicators).

DUTIES

(Include the following, however, other duties may apply.)


 

  • Operate and program CMM fluently.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to perform measurements while recording resulting data with little or no supervision.
  • Completing Inspection Reports utilizing technical writing skills.
  • Cability to reference Purchase Orders and all certifications that apply to product being inspected.
  • Utilization of MRP system to electronically input inspection transactions.
  • Perform other job duties as needed including but not limited to assisting in other departments.
  • Work with engineering staff to help diagnose issues, refine inspection needs for complicated assembly and or parts.

KNOWLEDGE


  • CMM operating system and program language required.
  • Have knowledge and practical application experience of ANSI Y14.5.
  • General gage usage experience.
  • Basic machining knowledge is helpful.

SKILLS


  • Have moderate computer skills with Windows, Word, and Excel etc.
  • ANSI Y14.5 understanding is required.
  • CMM operating and programming experience mandatory.

LANGUAGE SKILLS


Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


Work well with fellow employees and co-workers. Possess the ability to work in a high production environment and remain flexible on daily priorities. Maintain a clean work environment at all times. Work in a climate controlled environment.

PHYSICAL DEMAND


  • Some heavy lifting of 50lbs-75lbs on occasion may be required.
  • Sit and/ or stand for long periods at a time.
  • Must be able to move material lots to and from racks and load and unload pallets.
  • Cleaning of parts for inspection may be required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 4-5 years Quality Inspector and or related field experience a plus.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

10 hour shifts, 40 hours a week. Overtime may be required as needed with normally 1 to 2 day’s notice.
