DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Interprets and implements quality assurance standards to ensure the Company’s Quality Management System is supported. Reviews existing procedures for effectiveness and updates as needed. Works closely with departments during the review and development of new procedures.
Under limited supervision, implements inspection plans and procedures in support of incoming parts and assemblies, work in progress, finished products, components and materials. Must be able to interpret government and customer requirements with the ability to work with both in support of the company’s best interest. Actively involved in quality engineering challenges and projects working directly with engineering and other departments as needed.
DUTIES

- Develops processes and procedures in support of the company’s Quality Manual.
- Supervises the activities of the employees reporting to the Quality Department.
- Ensure department personnel adhere to company safety, inspection, and dress code policies.
- Oversees the company’s calibration program.
- Ensure the department is kept clean, organized, and ready for a customer and supplier walk through at all times.
- Performs annual reviews for direct report staff.
- Responsible for the review and documentation of incoming and in-process
discrepant materials. - Interfaces with suppliers as needed.
- Work with customers during product inspections.
- Performs incoming, in-process and customer order inspections
- Requires corrective action for procedural, product or process deficiencies.
- Analyzes reports and returned products for failure trends assigning corrective actions as needed.
- Responsible for heading the “Material Review Board” for discrepant materials, as required.
- Develop QA plans and other required process control policy and procedures to ensure processes, work in progress and finished goods meet all requirements.
- Reviews and or develops documentation to ensure it contains the necessary criteria for a repeatable process.
- Active with all product development cycles to ensure all drawing contain the proper information in support of the inspection process prior to release.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- The individual must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership characteristics.
- Strong quality and mechanical aptitude is required.
- Strong knowledge of ANSI Y 14.5 Geometric Tolerancing.
- Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Mag Particle Testing experience a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional, machining, warehouse, and indoor and outdoor shooting range. The use of safety glasses and hearing protection are required in specific areas of the facility.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time salary position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.
